SUMMARY:Full Circle: Art Show & Reception for The Left Brained Artist
DESCRIPTION:Come to the reception for my newest solo show at @divinebarrelclt featuring newer small works\, and a few other surprises. Thursday June 4th 6-9pm. Afterparty at @copperheadsocialclub! \nAbout the show Full Circle:\nIn many ways\, I feel like my life has come full circle. \nAbout five years ago\, I went to @jbird.the.vandal’s show at Divine Barrel. I remember it being one of the first in person events after Covid where so many artists that knew each other through Instagram were in hiding and came out to play. @stencilspray was the only person I knew in real life\, but that night I met people who became some of my best friends. I couldn’t imagine my life without them now! \nAbout 3 and a half years ago\, I had my own solo show at @divinebarrelclt. I absolutely loved working with Jake and the rest of the crew. It was awesome. However\, I feel like I was a different person. I was pushing to find a balance between being a public educator and an artist\, it was a challenge. I think back then I knew what I wanted\, but didn’t have the courage to go for it. \nSince then\, I’ve done my 16-year-old self proud by resigning from teaching and shifting my main focus to my original dream of being an artist over the last 2 and a half years. \nDuring this time\, my work has evolved and expanded in many ways from installation based work (@chromatic.roots)\, to new art forms\, to curating the work of others (Pic 8 @nineeighteennine @thevapacenter)\, and much more. But in other ways\, it has remained the same\, yet more confident and authentic. I am a fiber artist\, it’s what lights my soul on fire in the best way\, but I love to paint too. I’ve certainly learned a thing or two about brushes and cans over the years. I still feel most like myself as an artist when I get to combine the two. \nPursuing art has its ups and downs. About a year ago\, I decided to take a non demanding remote corporate job to ensure my bills get paid to allow time to focus on artistic passion projects like @chromatic.roots and curating a fiber art show in @nineeighteennine. 5 months later I was laid off and found myself asking ‘What am I going to do now?’ Once again\, @divinebarrelclt came through for me in the best way possible. I was hired as a bartender with no experience other than my grit and perseverance from being a public educator and an artist. Shout out to Amanda and Jake who were like\, ‘Yupp\, you cool\, we can teach you how to bartend.’ \nSince then\, I have jumped right in to help the brewery’s initiative to be a hub for arts and culture by displaying artwork\, hosting my own fiber arts meetup\, and telling everyone to book their events there. And yes\, I know how to bartend now\, so we can add that to my long list of trades. \nWhen @stencilspray approached me about having another show a few months ago\, it was a no brainer for me in so many ways\, and now you know why. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in my community at the opening reception in one of my favorite places in the city.

No pressure\, just interesting prompts and new friends. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow it works:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBring your own sketchbook and your favorite drawing tools. \n\n\nWe start with a 10-minute drawing prompt. \n\n\nWhen time's up\, we swap sketchbooks and draw in someone else's. \n\n\nRepeat with new prompts every 10 minutes—for about 2 hours.
