We continue along with our series of interviews that shed light on some of the incredible people and their businesses that have helped shape #DBB! Today we highlight our good friend, Justin Meador! Justin does custom metal work and reclaimed woodwork through his company Mill & Scale, and you can see some of his amazing work throughout our taproom and our big metal sign out front! Here are a few fun questions we asked Justin to help you get to know him better:
Q) How did you get involved in your profession?
A) My father and grandfather were both welders by trade. I always enjoyed watching what they could create with their hands, and I knew that was for me.
Q) How did you come to find out about Divine Barrel, and what has been your involvement with the brewery?
A) Actually, while breaking the code of ethics in public and eavesdropping on DBB’s owners Ben and Scott planning of the brewery. When I saw fit, I casually jumped in and offered my services… #DBB was gracious enough to allow me to make the signage out front and the metal pieces behind the bar.
Q) What first brought you to the world of craft beer?
A) I love to travel and always found myself looking up breweries in towns before food or a place to sleep. There are so many different variations of each style, and it’s always fun to see the brewers’ interpretations of them.
Q) what are some of your favorite styles to drink on a regular basis?
A) I go through phases like most people do, probably. I used to be really into Belgian stuff. Now, I’d probably choose a sour or something like that first. I’ll never turn down a good IPA though…
Q) If you had to choose one beer as a desert island beer, what would you choose and why?
A) Trappistes Rochefort 10. I’ve called that my “death row” beer for many years, so that’s fitting, right?
Q) What is your favorite beer DBB has made so far?
A) Man, hard to choose one! I usually go for The Feelin’ I Forgot, but it’s hard to beat The Repeater.
Q) What do you like most about DBB?
A) The whole taplist is exceptional. I love everything on the board. It’s always a good vibe in the building, and an awesome staff!
Q) What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
A) I enjoy camping, hiking, and fly fishing. Checking off a big chunk of America’s national parks is always the number one goal though. Anything to be outdoors.
Q) What is your favorite kind of music, and who is your favorite band?
A) I’m a fan of old school country and progressive bluegrass. Favorite band would probably be Greensky Bluegrass.
Q) If you could drink a beer with one person from history, dead or alive, who would you want to drink with?
A) Hmmm… I’ve always been a huge Waylon Jennings fan, and I think he wouldn’t disappoint.
